I Don’t Have A Plugins Menu In My WordPress Blog?

Every support document that I’ve read, automatically assumes that I have a Plugins menu in my WordPress blog after ‘Appearance’ and Before ‘Users’, which I can use to execute various code.

However, I’ve been through my entire blog menu and I can’t seen to find the ‘Pluginsmenu. I’m using a theme ‘cutline’ and am on a free account. Also, I’ve tried to find out how to install plug-ins and couldn’t understand a word.

Does anyone have a step by step approach which starts from ‘Boot Into Windows’. I’m on the WordPress.com account. Not WordPress.org. What I’m trying to do is add ‘Google Analytics‘ to my Blog. Does anyone know how to do that?

admin answers:

So, you’ve discovered some of the differences between the free wordpress.com and the self-hosted wordpress.org software. Make the switch! You can not use Google Analytics on wordpress.com.

“Can I use Google Analytics?

No.

We already use Google Analytics code to monitor the domain in ways that provide us with useful information to benefit the service we offer. It is not possible to use two instances of Google Analytics on one page.”

You also can’t choose from thousands of free, open-source themes and plugins to mix, match and hack. I made the switch almost two years ago. Here is some information about how to make it happen pretty smoothly:

Where is the “option” option in WordPress dashboard?

I want to install a plugin in WordPress. Here’s the instruction on which I am stuck. “Go to the options panel under the ‘Pluginsmenu and add your Analytics account number and set the settings you want.”

Now where is the option panel? Can anybody can direct me to this?

WordPress Plugins

admin answers:

In the newer versions of WordPress, they changed the name “options” to “Settings”. There is also a “Screen Options” tab in the upper right hand corner of the “Plugins” page. Hope that helps.

Hi, What is the best course (not online) to do in WordPress development?

I would like to become very efficient in WordPress Theme development and want to know if there is a well known course that teaches just WordPress theme development. I am hoping to learn very difficult concepts like creating plugins and also adding to the main navigation in my own apps that run inside the admin menu such as creating a portfolio creator.
Thank you

admin answers:

I’m not aware of any courses specifically targeting Theme development, but there are plenty of online resources to help you through the process (including the WordPress Codex).

One of the great things about WordPress is that it (and most of it’s themes and plugins) are open source – which allows you to see and tinker with the source code). The best way to learn is probably to find themes/plugins that you like, look at the source code, and make small changes until you get a feel for what does what.

Experience is the best way to learn.

Hi, I’ve a common problem in WordPress.?

My WordPress dashboard does not show Plugins option under Appearance menu. Please help me.

WordPress Plugins

admin answers:

This is because you’re using the WordPress.com version of WordPress. They don’t allow the use of plugins. To use plugins, you’ll need to get hosting and install your own version of wordpress from wordpress.org.

WordPress installation help?

I want to install WordPress on my website, but I’ve been using two templates that I created for the website that is especifically designed for my website. Everything is in a good spot such as: The navigation map at the top, the menu bar on the left, the other stuff on the right bar. (www.zelda-world.net if you want too see the layout). And for the other template, it is for the games themselves (this is a Legend of Zelda fan site so its important), and I need it to be laid out how it is.

So is there some way I can install WordPress (I am want WordPress for news updating and its various plugins) and still keep my structure? (I want to make the site look better than it is right now but I still need to maintain that structure)

Or, do I need to go from scratch and just re-design the whole site and link everything together?

admin answers:

WordPress is well known for its ease of installation. Under most circumstances installing WordPress is a very simple process and takes less than five minutes to complete. Many web hosts now offer tools (e.g. Fantastico) to automatically install WordPress for you. However, if you wish to install WordPress yourself, the following guide will help. Now with Automatic Upgrade, upgrading is even easier.

For install the WordPress you need to download WordPress from this WordPress website

http://wordpress.org/download/

The latest stable release of WordPress (Version 3.0.1) is available in two formats from the links to your right. If you have no idea what to do with this download, we recommend signing up with one of our web hosting partners that offers a one click install of WordPress or getting a free account on WordPress.com.

Why is my WORDPRESS website broken?

Please help with this non-profit WordPress site problem.

Okay, I am trying to help this non profit group out, they have a website called http://www.mendotadakota.com it has the newest version.

PROBLEM: When anyone using Internet Explorer views the website, they see only the posts, no sidebar, no menus, nothing. Only people using Firefox can see the site the way it is meant to be seen.

SOLUTION ATTEMPTS: I have disabled all plugins, I have tried 5 or 10 different standard themes, I have tried copying stock WordPress files over the current ones, I have looked for errors in the files. Oh my God! I have tried everything!

INFO: if a person in IE clicks on a story, to view only that story, then the site appears to work well. for example, if in IE, you go to http://www.mendotadakota.com the site will be messed up, but if you go to http://mendotadakota.com/mn/2009/05/24/p… then the site should look right, but now you are only able to see one post, not the home page of posts.

Any help would be greatly GREATLY appreciated. Thank You ~Bradley
MSG TO SLACKER:
Hey, I appreciate your looking into it, just my luck I was trying to tweak the .css, so you’re right, when you looked at it there was nothing, but NOW it is back to the original error I mentioned above. Site works in MF but not IE.

AARRRHHHGGHGH!!! (there, that’s a little better -lol)

I’m using FF on the Mac and no styling appears for me either. BTW,
http://mendotadakota.com/mn/wp-content/themes/page-style/images/bgr-footer.gif doesn’t exist.

From what I can see you have no positioning set on your sidebars (IE. Float: left; or float: right;) or on your content. In fact there is NO styling on the content or sidebar divs. In conclusion its a CSS problem.
